DJ is a collage artist, and often includes acrylic paint in addition to handmade and other fine papers, and occasionally antique jewelry cast-offs and other found objects. She also makes a variety of blank journals, art gift books, artist's journals and other book arts. Select art is exhibited and sold through various local venues.

DJ Gaskin has placed poetry and prose with Zillah, The Fairfield Review, freefall, Literary Salt, Avocet, Switched-On Gutenberg, WordWrights, National Public Radio, The Washington Post and others and has two poems in the recently released anthology Liberated Muse Vol. 1: How I Freed My Soul (available at Outskirts Press and also Amazon.com and Barnes&Noble.com). DJ has conducted her Poetry as Healing Art workshops with teens in addiction recovery and adults in various settings, and also combines poetry with bookmaking in her Expressive Poetry - Expressive Journals workshop. Recently assembling nearly 100 of her poems into a full-length book manuscript, she’s now busy courting publishers for that project, while also working on her never-ending novel.
